The Qdos Centre at The Castle School is a purpose built, £2.6m centre designed around the needs of post 16 students studying for qualifications in Sport and Active Leisure. There is a well equipped, state of the art, fitness suite for the exclusive use of post 16 students. This facility will be used as a teaching resource as well as a resource for students to use in their own time. There is also a large practical area with a sprung floor and mirrored wall, which will be used for aerobics, dance etc. The centre also houses changing rooms and showers. All teaching spaces have interactive white boards to aid learning. There are many smaller seminar rooms which will be used for small group work and the whole centre has a wireless network so that students can use laptops wherever they are in the building. A large, central social area is also incorporated into the design for the sole use of post 16 students.
